3rd Epsom urgently need your help
3rd Epsom (St Martins) Scout Group consists of a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack, a Scout Troop and an Explorer Unit (the Ashley Unit). All four sections meet at the Scout Headquarters (KT17 4AB) at the back of St John Chandler Hall, Church Road, Epsom, Surrey. But we have reached capacity and looking to expand our facilities.

Your Fund Surrey
3rd Epsom are seeking a grant from Surrey towards our plans to improve our facilities. As a result we will be able to accommodate more children who wish to participate in Scouting, giving them the opportunity to develop valuable life skills, make new friends, and contribute positively to their community. Additionally, upgraded and accessible facilities will allow more members of the local community to utilize our spaces for meetings, events, and other activities, further strengthening our role as a hub for engagement and inclusion.
Please ensure that you vote with some supporting words and your email address (which you will need to confirm). Note we do not think there are any other project proposals in our area.
Who we are
3rd Epsom is the oldest Scout Group in Epsom and Ewell, established in 1922. We foster a strong community spirit, offering young people opportunities to develop life skills, confidence, and friendships through Scouting. In addition, our facilities support local charities and groups by providing important services to the community, including sign language classes for toddlers, exercise sessions for older adults in wheelchairs, and a martial arts class for teenagers with special educational needs.
Our goal
Our current Scout Hall is no longer sufficient to accommodate our growing number of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers. The demand from local groups is also increasing, and we need a larger and more flexible space. To meet these needs, we plan to renovate and extend The Forge, an old building on our site. This project will create a modern, accessible, and multi-functional space that can serve more young people and community organisations in Epsom and Ewell. The improved facilities will enable us to deliver positive and constructive activities to a larger number of children and families.
Why it matters
Epsom and Ewell’s population is growing rapidly due to ongoing development, and we have over 70 children on our waiting list eager to join Scouting. Expanding our facilities will give them the chance to experience adventure, learning, and growth. The project will ensure accessibility for all, with features like wheelchair access, disabled toilets, and flexible spaces for neurodivergent children.
What we are seeking
The total cost of this redevelopment is approximately £430,000 (including contingency and current inflation rate). To date, we have successfully raised £125,000, demonstrating strong local support and commitment to this project. We are seeking a grant from Your Fund Surrey to contribute £255,000 towards this transformative initiative. The remaining funds will be raised through community fundraising efforts, sponsorships, and other grant applications.
Your support will help create a lasting impact on young people and the wider community in Epsom and Ewell. Thank you for considering our request. Click here to support us.
